Aston Martin DBX AMR24 Edition: New look, no extra power for the F1-inspired model

Aston Martin is banking on Formula One’s recent success to launch its new version DBX707But don’t expect improved performance from this super SUV.

If you think this sounds familiar, you’re right – last year the British brand DBX707 Special Edition Launchedalso to celebrate the automaker’s efforts in Formula 1.

However, the Aston Martin DBX707 AMR23 Edition was launched when the team was regularly winning podium finishes, and the new AMR24-inspired SUV was launched when the team was competing in the mid-table.

Exterior changes over last year’s special edition are minimal.

You can still opt for the exclusive Podium Green paint with carbon fiber body extensions with lime green accents, or you can choose Onyx Black and Neutron White paint combined with Trophy Silver accents.

Other additions specific to the AMR24 over the DBX707 it’s based on include a custom-designed engine cover and Racing Green or AMR Lime brake calipers.

The AMR24 rides on Aston Martin’s new 23-inch ‘Fortis’ wheels, available in satin or gloss black.

Inside the cabin is where the AMR24 looks most different from last year’s special edition.

The DBX707 has recently received a significant dashboard update, including a new instrument cluster, new air-conditioning vents, a center console-mounted gear lever in place of the buttons on the top of the console, a more modern array of physical controls, and an updated steering wheel.

The Inspire Sport trim comes standard on the AMR24, available in Onyx Black with Lime contrast stitching and piping, or a two-tone Onyx Black and Eifel Blue finish.

There’s also more carbon fiber and dark chrome or titanium mesh and satin chrome accents than the standard DBX707.

The door panels are engraved with AMR24, while the wireless charging station also features a hand-stitched green saddle strap.

Typically an option on the DBX707 is the 1600-watt, 23-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system that comes standard on the AMR24 trim.

Unfortunately for those expecting more performance, this latest special edition – like the AMR23 before it – is just a cosmetic package.

The twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 continues to produce 520kW of power and 900Nm of torque, driving all four wheels through a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Although orders have been opened for the Aston Martin DBX707 AMR24 Edition, there’s no word yet on whether the car will be sold in Australia.

Aston Martin has yet to announce pricing for the facelifted DBX in Australia.
