Asia-Pacific stocks mixed as investors look ahead to HSBC earnings
SINGAPORE — Shares in Asia-Pacific traded combined on Monday as traders sit up for the discharge of quarterly earnings by HSBC.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 slipped 0.99% in early buying and selling whereas the Topix index shed 0.61%. South Korea’s Kospi dipped 0.44%.
Shares in Australia edged increased in Monday morning commerce, with the S&P/ASX 200 up 0.13%.
MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outdoors Japan traded 0.08% decrease.
HSBC is about to launch its third-quarter earnings on Monday.
In the meantime, the Covid-19 state of affairs in China may weigh on investor sentiment after an official warned that the outbreak may unfold additional, Reuters reported Sunday.
