Arqana December Breeding Stock Sale Catalog Released
The catalog for the Arqana Vente d’Élevage, the public sale home’s December breeding inventory sale that will happen Dec. 4-7 in Deauville, has been launched.
Graduates of the sale have shone on the highest degree this 12 months all over the world. Of the foals that handed by means of the ring throughout earlier editions, European champion 2-year-old Native Trail won the Darley Dewhurst Stakes (G1) and Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes (G1) this season. In France, Coeursamba shone in the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (G1), followed by Zellie in the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac Criterium des Pouliches (G1), and Rougir in the Prix
de l’Opéra Longines (G1). Tribhuvan won the United Nations (G1T) on the other side of the Atlantic. Alenquer , Atomic Jones , and Real Appeal added group 2 wins to their race records.
The offspring of mares purchased at the Arqana December sale have also shown themselves at the highest level. An exceptional 13 of them have won at group level this season, led by Alcohol Free who, following her victory in the Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes (G1) last year, added two further group 1 wins to her record this season. Other group-1 winning offspring produced from this sale’s mares include Romantic Proposal , Trueshan , and 2020 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) winner Aunt Pearl .
This year, the Arqana December sale will see 1,012 mares, fillies, and foals go under the hammer. The first part of the catalog will see 240 lots of the highest caliber go through the ring Dec. 4. More than a quarter of mares offered have won black-type and/or have already produced at least one black-type horse. A total of 212 siblings or half siblings to group winners, including 57 sisters/half sisters to group 1 winners are cataloged.
Underlining the exceptional quality of the catalog, the first part of the sale will see fillies and mares of exceptional caliber go through the ring, including the excellent Grand Glory (Lot 192), that is offered from Haras de Castillon. A winner at 2, the Gianluca Bietolini-trained filly took the Darley Prix Jean Romanet (G1) as well as also finishing third in the 2019 Prix de Diane Longines (G1). Free of Sadler’s Wells blood, the daughter of Olympic Glory hails from the maternal family of Lady Rebecca . She is due to run in the Japan Cup in association with Longines (G1).
Stakes winner Speak of the Devil will be offered by Sumbe as Lot 172. A winner of her only start at 2, she finished a nose second in the Emirates Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (G1) to the excellent Dream And Do and also took third in the Prix Rothschild (G1).
Consignments at the sale will include Ecurie des Monceaux, Wertheimer & Frère, Gestüt Ammerland, the Aga Khan Stud, Godolphin, and Haras d’Etreham.
A total of 290 foals will go under the hammer during the four days by established sires such as Adlerflug , Australia , Camelot , Caravaggio , Dark Angel , Fastnet Rock , Frankel , Galiway , Gleneagles , Goken , Kendargent , Kingman , Kodiac, Le Havre , Lope de Vega , Mehmas , New Bay , Night of Thunder , No Nay Never , Sea The Moon , Sea The Stars , Showcasing , Siyouni , Starspangledbanner , and Wootton Bassett , as well as by young sires Almanzor , Al Wukair , Blue Point , Calyx , Churchill , City of Light , Cloth of Stars , Cracksman , Invincible Army , Magna Grecia , Saxon Warrior , Sioux Nation , Ten Sovereigns , Waldgeist , Zarak , Zelzal , and Zoustar.
