Arizona firefighters help rescue kitten that’s been stuck in a sewer for a week

A tiny kitten got stuck in a sewer in Phoenix, Arizona, meowing until help arrived.

Phoenix 61 Fire Station arrived to save the ginger cat after receiving calls from people who heard a “meow” coming from an underground pipe.

Phoenix Fire Department posted, “We get cats out of trees, sewers, or wherever they might be! ”

Arizona Humane Society (AHS) Animal Health Emergency technicians assisted in the two-day rescue and said it required “all hands on deck”.

AHS reported that the kitten had been crying for help for a week.

However, every time the rescue team opened the manhole cover to search, he went down the drain.

Firefighters have apparently thrown chickens down for him over the past week to make sure he doesn’t starve to death. The rescuers decided to set up a trap with a can of cat food inside and wait.

The next day, they returned and found the ginger kitten inside the crate. The rescue team was delighted that they had finally caught the kitten.

“Aww, there he is,” one of the firefighters said as the kitten was lifted from the pit.

It was taken to AHS Second Chance Animal Trauma Hospital to be checked and treated for fleas.

AHS shared rescue video on Facebook and thanks for the help of the fire department. “Wags and tributes to our friends at Phoenix Fire Station 61!”

The adorable and playful kitten may have found a permanent home. “Rumor on the street is that one of the firefighters at the scene was interested in using the small sprayer,” Written AHS.
