AP’s secret to represent Joseph in Fountain of Youth
Coach Saffie Joseph Jr. will pass the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) on March 5 with the hero Holy Bull (G3) White Abarrio but will be in the Triple Crown 1 1/16 mile prep program by AP’s Secret another gray.
Light race Cupid colt, who is reducing the strong allowance option claim at Gulfstream Park January 9, is set to compete in the Kentucky Derby’s 85-point Road Qualifier.
“AP’s Secret is a quality pony that we believe is also on[White Abarrio’s]level, but he’s going to have to jump forward to prove it,” Joseph said. “We’re going to the Fountain of Youth with him and give him a chance to prove it.”
Gentry Farms ‘AP’s Secret won its November 6 debut at Gulfstream with four lengths on seven feathers. He returned to finish second in a claimant who optionally gave a one-mile allowance on a bet currently placed. Strong attack and then his closest win is equal to 1 1/4 of the length. In the second race, he completed a mile in 1:35.54, winning 98 Equivalent Speed Figures.
Joseph, meanwhile, is pleased with how La Milagrosa Stable’s C2 Racing Stable and White Abarrio achieved his impressive 4 1/2 score in a 1 1/16-mile Holy Bull match on February 5. He’ll be waiting for the Curlin Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream April 2.
