Apprentice Rodriguez Eyes continues to succeed in Kentucky


Apprentice rider Walter Rodriguez prevailed during the winter/spring meet at Race Park. He’s at the top of the driver standings with 44 wins in 42 race days and five days left in the meeting. The El Salvador native isn’t just eyeing the $700,000 Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3) on March 25, horseback riding Event details but to the future beyond his brilliant encounter at Turfway.

Highlights of Rodriguez’s ascent in the rankings include $125,000 worth of winning bets on Dust Commander Stakes and $125,000 on Wish Well Stakes. Rodriguez, now a 5-pound apprentice, begins his career in 2022 in laurel park where he got 11 wins. He added another 11 wins between Penn country, Racecourse PimlicoAnd Timonium before switching tactics to Kentucky in December.

Represented by Cliff Collier, who also booked second-place rider Gerardo Corrales, Rodriguez has 73 career wins from 477 rides.
