Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois will fight at Wembley on September 21

ANTHONY Joshua and Daniel Dubois will fight at Wembley Stadium on September 21 in an all-British heavyweight bout. Dubois became full IBF champion after his interim status was upgraded.

Initial forecasts suggest more than 90,000 spectators will gather at the venue to witness the spectacle as Matchroom and Queensberry once again combine to bring together the division’s two senior executives.

Dubois, 26, recovered from two losses to Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk, to claim a career-best win over Filip Hrgovic, firmly cementing his place in the heavyweight rankings .

Joshua, 34, has also lost to Usyk (twice) and suffered a shock 2019 loss to Andy Ruiz, which he later avenged in Saudi Arabia. Now the Riyadh Season roadshow has taken place at Wembley.

While Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs) has won various minor world title belts in the ring, defeating Joshua would add a stellar first to his record.

A win for Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) would earn him a shot at fighting the winner of Usyk-Fury 2, which takes place later in the year, giving the former unified king another monster payday and a chance to finally become the undisputed ruler.

Dubois will enter the contest as the official IBF titleholder, making his first defense after Oleksandr Usyk officially relinquished his championship belt yesterday.

The IBF has been pressuring Usyk to defend his belt against mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic, who lost to Dubois in a June 1 fight in Riyadh, where five of Matchroom and Queensberry’s best fighters will face off.

Usyk firmly established his status as the best heavyweight on the planet by defeating Tyson Fury on May 18. Stripping him of his IBF title doesn’t change that, especially as he defeated Daniel Dubois, who currently holds the full version. His old strap.

At this afternoon’s press conference, the undercard was also announced, with Liam Smith taking on Josh Kelly and newly crowned IBF super featherweight champion Anthony Cacace defending his title against former champion Josh Warrington.

Fresh from winning the European title against Felix Cash, middleweight Tyler Denny will take on Hamzah Sheeraz, who was last seen stopping Austin Williams in Saudi Arabia.

Two more Saudi Arabia success stories return as Willy Hutchinson takes on Joshua Buatsi and Mark Chamberlain takes on Josh Padley.
