Anisette introduces Turn of Foot in San Clemente

It only takes a few seconds to anise to make the key move in the turn that won the San Clemente (G2T) Share July 22 at Del Mar for her. That was the moment when jockey Umberto Rispoli pulled her out of their rail position in the middle of their luggage, allowing the curvaceous English-born girl to showcase her remarkable abilities as a long-distance runner.

San Clemente has attracted a full spectrum of 3-year-olds from a variety of backgrounds. Some already have a great track record when trying out turf for the first time. Others are good, solid bet winners on the local turf. And some are shipped from out of town.

But in the end, the rising girl from the UK has just started her second time in the US, who has already proved a very promising future.

That first U.S. start gave Anisette a 2-1 in the mile-long San Clemente. In the May 29 stipend race at Santa Anita, also at a mile on grass, Anisette found herself a little tight on the tracks and bravely passed to win three-quarters of the way.

Anisette was a little slow out of the gate that day, and in San Clemente, she didn’t rush out either, rushing in one after another.

Meanwhile, Anisette has moved up to seventh place, with Rispoli waiting for the right moment to ask her to run for office.

“I had to take advantage of her a little bit in the back to get her in the position I wanted so we could wait,” Rispoli said.

When Anisette had a clear path outside, she sailed to the lead. She stretched her advantage to 2 1/2 lengths at the strap, stopping the clock at 1:34.84.

Rispoli said: “When it was time to shoot from long distance, she was there — a great finish. “And I absolutely believe that the further they go, the better she will be.”
