The pandemic is not over yet and its effects are still being felt in the anime industry. According to one new notification from its production committee, NieR Automata cartoons are delayed. The delay is partly due to COVID-19 infections in Japan, which have increased recently. As a result, scheduling for more episodes has been paused until further notice.
Notice that NieR Automata The delayed anime says that the new spread of COVID-19 has affected the series’ production schedule. Therefore, the committee decided to postpone the airing of future episodes. Episode 3 aired as scheduled on January 22, 2023, but episode 4 and subsequent episodes have been officially postponed. Starting January 28, 2023, audiences in Japan will be able to re-watch the first three episodes of the series. The production team will announce the showtimes of the remaining episodes “in the near future” through official channels. The committee also apologized to viewers for the inconvenience and thanked them for their understanding. In keeping with creator Yoko Taro’s sense of humour, this announcement is credited to the “Council of Humanity,” the official name of the anime’s production committee. Officially titled NieR Automata Ver1.1a, the NieR Automata anime is an adaptation of the game. Like the game, it tells the story of YoRHa androids 2B, 9S and A2, fighting against the Machine Lifeforms in an attempt to retake the earth for humanity. Anime incorporates some additional content from Yoko Taro’s YoRHa stage play (which inspired the game), as well as a manga spin-off Original recording of Pearl Harbor. These additions include characters like Android phone Lily.
The NieR Automata anime is delayed until further notice. Viewers outside of Japan can watch the three episodes currently available on services such as Crunchyroll. The game is available on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
