An f/0.95 lens for $249? Can it provide the image quality professionals need?

It’s no secret that photographers are looking for wide aperture lenses, and with the advent of mirrorless cameras we’ve seen the launch of many 50mm f/0.95 lenses, offering provides photographers with a super-narrow depth of field and a multitude of bokeh effects. One such lens is the Meike 50mm f/0.95, which provides an ultra-wide aperture for a wide variety of APS-C mirrorless mounts and does so at a very affordable price point. However, can it still deliver professional quality? Check out this excellent video review.

Coming to you from Wes PerryThis great video review will look at Meike 50mm f/0.95 . lens. Available for Sony E, Fujifilm X, Nikon Z, Canon EF-M and micro four-thirds mounts, this lens offers plenty of light-gathering power and a narrow depth of field, making it a natural choice for portrait work. I must admit that I am quite impressed by the performance of the lens. Sure, at f/0.95, you shouldn’t expect clinical sharpness, but when you stop, it shows quite respectable sharpness. And besides, photographers shoot at f/0.95 for a dreamy look, not for extreme sharpness. Probably the biggest downside is the manual focus design, but with the focus assist of modern mirrorless cameras, as long as you’re not shooting fast action, it’s not as much of an obstacle as you might think. . Check out the video above for Perry’s full thoughts on the lens.
