Amis Gizmo Sires First BT Winner with Zippy Gizmo
Zippy Gizmo won the Bull Page Stakes Sept. 24 at Woodbine and gave his sire, Amis Gizmo , his first blacktype stakes winner.
The 2-year-old chestnut won his second career race in four starts by edging rival Brave Dancer by a neck in 1:22.77 on the turf.
It was a come-from-behind triumph that saw Zippy Gizmo running last in the field of six. A half mile into the seven-furlong run, Zippy Gizmo with Kazushi Kimura in the irons, found a seam at the top of the lane.
With his jockey’s encouragement, Zippy Gizmo split rivals and accelerated with a furlong left to go. He did just enough to eek out the win.
Zippy Gizmo, homebred by Ivan Dalos’ Tall Oaks Farm in Ontario, Canada, is trained by Kevin Attard. He improved to 2-0-0 from four starts and has a bankroll of $75,418.
The sire Amis Gizmo was also bred by Tall Oaks Farm. He stands for CA$4,000 at T.C. Westmeath Stud Farm in Ontario. Another similarity to his son is that the Bull Page Stakes was Amis Gizmo’s second win as well.
Amos Gizmo was a successful runner with 7-1-0 from 10 starts. His biggest win came in his swan song, as he pulled away by six lengths in the 2016 Ontario Derby (G3). He amassed $800,022 in career earnings.
Amos Gizmo has three crops of foals, two of which are of racing age. Among those of racing age, 13 of 20 have started.
