American Airlines has a new offer targeting Advantage members can buy status to March 31, 2024, as reported by Viewed From the Wings. To check your offer, visit this landing page.
In our tests, only people with no selected status were targeted for entry-level Gold status. And if you’ve been an American, the data points indicate that you’re more likely to be targeted.
Regardless, like year-end purchaseit doesn’t come cheap (at least in our surveyed accounts).
While Americans don’t say how they value this offer, it’s likely the closer you get to asking for 40,000 Loyalty Points for AAdvantage Gold, the lower your status purchase price will be.
If you’re targeted, you can use AAdvantage miles to secure your status, although we don’t recommend it. Using miles offers an overwhelming redemption rate of just 1 cent per mile in these examples. For reference, TPG . value AAdvantage miles at 1.77 cents per person.
Again, Americans Instant status pass could be a little more expensive and likely More rewarding way to achieve AAdvantage status.
It should also be noted that any status available through this offer will only be valid through March 31, 2024. However, if you meet the standard requirements for Gold status by earning 40,000 Loyalty Points for this year (March 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024), you’ll have those perks through March 31, 2025.
As a result, you are likely to do better by promoting status in the usual way — including spending on AA credit cardshopping through Shopping portal AAdvantage and (of course) fly American and their partner airlines.
