Not surprisingly, given her previous track record, Adele doesn’t use a nuanced approach to expressing her emotions. The watchlist itself is a gift for the content inside. Piano ballad To be loved is a signature Adele tune that pulls your heart out with every word on every beat but there are only so many times you can hear an artist feel sorry for themselves in the desperate way Adele did. When you hear her sing – “I built a house for love to grow up, I’m young so it’s hard to know, now I’m lost like back then, Always messing things up” is like you. ‘I’ve heard it all before and it sounded like she was whining. Even the opening line of the opening song – “I will bring flowers to the cemetery of my heart, To all those who love me now and in the dark” sounds as heartfelt as an apology by Boris Johnson . The emotion in homage to Judy Garland has been polished by an attempt to recreate some sort of classic soundtrack from a bygone era. It’s an outdated and out of place song from an album that doesn’t have many options.

30 the particularly disappointing Christmas equivalent of your favorite sitcom. You wait ages for it to come and roll out all the hype only to be presented with a plate of leftovers left behind for a reason. Adele is a good singer, maybe even great but 30 is more similar, but not even the best of the same her. It’s disappointing.
