Actress Ayden Mayeri is a frugal person most — Here are her most memorable finds

Ayden Mayeri been busy. Like starring in five projects-and-counting-this-years-alone kind of busy. The actress, who you can recognize from her exceptional performances in Veep, New girland by Amazon Come home, brought humor in 2022, and we can’t get enough of it. From the Apple TV comedy + whodunit The party after that to the hilarious Showtime series I love this for you to her latest absurd adventure Drag me in a circle, currently showing in theaters and on AMC+, Mayeri has always been the standout. Furthermore, the 31-year-old is a skilled and thrifty enthusiast with a passion for environmental issues and sustainable fashion. Naturally, when we heard this fact about Mayeri, our ears perked up. A conscientious consumer with a wardrobe full of great vintage pieces? We need to know more. So we asked the actress to put together four perfect summer looks featuring her favorite discoveries and share the stories behind them.

I started saving when I was a kid. It’s the only way my friends and I can buy a full wardrobe and outfit for makeup, home filming, and a photo shoot with my Midnight cat. We’ll get a budget of $20 and go big!

Savings bring back memories for the whole experience of finding unique and fun puzzle pieces. They not only lived a life before me, but also created memories when I lived frugally. It’s a hobby I share with friends. “This head? Oh, I got it when my best friend from New York came to visit to get out of a terrible breakup. We stumbled across this little thrift shop in a strip mall, we shopped, we cried, we had boba, it was the perfect day.” Or, “These jeans? I found them when my husband and I went to this creepy real estate sale in Texas where they had a whole room full of dolls and the owner kept trying to get us out of the barn. They are only $3! Aren’t they classy?! “The story becomes part of the look.

Look 1

This sarong reminds me of summers back home in Northern California. Maybe because it came from Antiques on Mill . Street in Sonoma County, or maybe because Norcal has a natural sense of comfort that pairs well with the sarong. In recognition of Southern California’s merits, I recently discovered this wonderful thrift store in Laguna Niguel called The Mercy Warehouse. I could spend hours there. I bought too many things to photograph, but one thing that stood out was this yellow Joe Boxer Pajama shirt. It’s fun to wear as a nightie, but wear a sarong and you’re in for a summer!

Look 2

I found this beige turtleneck at Saver in Arcadia, cut it into a crop top, and wear it with lots of things. I like a monochromatic look, so I love pairing it with these Urban Outfitters joggers and I’m a beige little girl. But if I need to upgrade my outfit from sunglasses to dinner with friends, these white boots from Crossroads at Los Feliz makes every outfit more fun. Also, I never thought of myself as a girl in a cardigan, but this elegant green piece popped up at a real estate sale and it’s mine now.

Look 3

I loved this look while shooting on location in Boston. There’s an incredible vintage Sunday market in South Boston called SoWayand right next door is a great farmers market, which is where I found this handmade velvet fanny pack by Non-Fiction Community. I was lucky enough to be in Massachusetts for the Brimfield Antique & Flea — Flea Market Forest! People flock from all over the country to shop for miles on antiques and vintages. I fell in love with this cherry blossom jeans and vintage t-shirt at @BelvedereVintage, although it certainly helped a few teenage girls walk past and say they love my pants. My Veja sneakers were bought new, but I treat Veja like a company. They are committed to transparency, ethical working conditions and recycled materials. We love!

Look 4

This fun printed men’s shirt dress came from a flea market in Pisa, Italy! I wanted to wear something that could handle heat, so I paired it with some classic black Levi’s shorts and this $5 waterproof bag from Out of the closet at Atwater Village. One thing I learned while traveling last year is that they don’t have garage sales in Italy or most of Europe. It is a unique American pastime. But they have a lot of flea markets, and no matter what you buy at an Italian flea market, it will feel much cooler because it has lived a sexy Italian life 🙂

Follow Ayden on Instagram for more of her amazing vintage pieces and don’t miss her in Drag me in a circle in theaters and on AMC+ right now.
