Southwest Airlines is celebrating 5 years of service in Hawaii with a special promotion: Quick rewards Members can now earn a value Companion card by taking a round-trip flight to Hawaii this summer.
To qualify, you must:
- Become a Fast Rewards member (you can create an account for free).
- Register to receive the promotion and purchase qualifying revenue travel (one round-trip or two qualifying one-way flights between the continental United States and Hawaii) by Friday. You can pay for your flight(s) with cash or your new Southwest card Cash + Points option, but flights booked using points alone do not qualify.
- Fly between June 1 and July 3. To qualify, flights must be operated by the same member.
You can choose from five airports in Hawaii that Southwest serves:
- Hilo International Airport (ITO), Hawaii Island
- Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA), Hawaii Island
- Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), Oahu
- Kahului Airport (OGG), Maui
- Lihue Airport (LIH), Kauai
Once you meet the criteria — and relax on a Hawaiian beach — you’ll receive a promotional Companion Pass valid from October 5 to November 15.

Southwest’s Companion Pass is popular with travelers because it lets you bring one person on each trip for nothing — you only pay taxes and fees (starting at $5.60 one-way ). This applies to both paid and award tickets for any Southwest route, including the United States, Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. You can bring your companion on as many trips as you like along the way.
To take advantage of your Companion Pass, first designate a companion in your Express Rewards account. Then, after booking your own flight with cash, points, or both, go to the My Trips section of your account and follow the steps to book a ticket for your travel companion.
Note that you can only change your assigned Southwest companion up to three times per calendar year.
Typically, you must fly 100 qualifying one-way flights or earn 135,000 qualifying tickets Quick bonus points in a calendar year to earn Companion Cards. The card is valid for the remainder of the year in which you earn it, plus the following calendar year.
But there are ways to catch up Faster Companion Cards. Southwest occasionally runs promotions like this, allowing even the most frequent Southwest flyers to get a Companion Pass that’s valid for a shorter period of time. We have also seen co-branding Southwest credit card Offering the included Card for a limited time.
With Hawaii’s current promotions, now is a great time to plan a trip to the Aloha State — and earn a Companion Pass to save on travel costs this fall.
