2024 Jeep Compass Price and Specs: Hybrid-Only Line-Up Delivers a Boost
Runs on gasoline and diesel Jeep compass Crossovers are dead in Australia, with small SUVs shifting to mild hybrids and plug-in hybrids exclusively.
Jeep Australia has finally introduced the electrified Compasses that have been offered for some time in Europe, with the e-Hybrid and 4xe plug-in hybrid models arriving in Australian showrooms in June.
This also means that the Compass for the Australian market is now sourced from Italy, rather than India.
The range opens at $45,990 before on-road costsa $4590 increase over last year’s gas-powered Night Eagle base model.
The more off-road-ready Trailhawk is dead, as are the base model Night Eagle and the upgraded S-Limited.
Instead, there are just two trim levels – Limited and Summit – both available on the e-Hybrid and 4xe.
Front-wheel drive e-Hybrid models use a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine combined with a 48V mild-hybrid system and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, with the first power The output of the system is a total capacity of 96kW and torque of 240Nm.
Those power outputs are down 33kW but up 11Nm on last year’s naturally aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine, while fuel economy is improved from 7.9L/100km to 5.1L /100km.
Jeep says e-Hybrid models can travel in electric-only mode at speeds under 15km/h, such as when moving through heavy traffic or parking lots, with the 48V battery also supporting Supports performance at high speeds.
If you want all-wheel drive, you now need to switch to the 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrain.
This is combined with a 132kW/270Nm turbocharged 1.3-litre engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, a rear-mounted electric motor rated at 44kW and 250Nm, and an 11.4kWh battery.
Total system output is 176kW and Jeep claims an electric range of 47.3km and combined cycle fuel economy of 2.1L/100km.
