In March, the 1,000-bed hospital was reported to have scored 308/400 for the HIMSS Digital Health Index (DHI), a measure of a health organization’s digital maturity in four dimensions: governance and workforce, interoperability , human health and predictive analytics. Its DHI score is currently the third highest globally, behind Hong Kong Hospital.
Out of the four areas of DHI, it scores highest for interoperability, also topping all other health systems in the world. KU Anam attributes this to its cloud-based HIS.
Last year, the hospital implemented an Accurate Hospital Information System (P-HIS). In a presentation at HIMSS22 APAC, Dr. Sang-Heon Lee, Head of Health Science and Information Department at KU Anam, said they have developed the system to combine data stored in Hospitals Individual KUs to form big data in the cloud.
The 38-module system, now available at KU Anam, Guro and Ansan Hospitals, also provides international standardization of clinical terminology and simplifies data processing.
Following its implementation, KU Anam has seen an improvement in quality of care, especially with a 40% increase in patient hours of treatment, as well as a 60% reduction in the time it takes to check for input errors. of the prescription. It has also saved 40% on operating technology costs.
By using P-HIS, writing time for nurses is also reduced from 15 minutes to 5 minutes.
As the hospital can now produce big data, KU Anam has also developed a clinical data warehouse to analyze and perform AI modeling based on big data. This allows the hospital to further explore new AI, drug and substance solutions.
