Abu Dhabi DOH launches image exchange solution for patient records



Abu Dhabi’s Ministry of Health has launched an image exchange solution for inclusion in the region’s Malaffi health information exchange platform.

This solution will provide authorized clinicians with secure access to diagnostic images and radiographs as part of the patient record.

In a phased approach, two million radiographic images from more than 60 different healthcare sites across Abu Dhabi will be available through Malaffi, including X-rays, CT scans, MRIs and imaging supersonic.

Reem Hospital and nine hospitals in the NMC Healthcare group were connected and shared radiographic images. Once all sites are connected, patients will no longer need to scan hard copies and CDs for each appointment.

WHY IT IMPORTANT

The time and effort spent retrieving radiological and diagnostic images from disparate systems places a significant burden on patients and healthcare providers. Secure access to radiographic images is essential for clinicians to make better decisions and improve the delivery of high-quality patient care.
