Abarth Classiche 1000 SP Production Confirmed

Abarth will build a small batch of sports cars based on the Alfa Romeo 4C, inspired by the 1966 Abarth 1000 Sport Prototipo.

According to the Fiat spinoff, the Classiche 1000SP weighs in at just 1074kg and will reach a top speed of 250 km/h.

Abarth actually designed a modern film with a classic twist from 2009, before being recreated and rerun in 2021.

The number of products that will be created is not yet locked down, but reports from 2021 suggest that only five will be built.

Power comes from the same 1.75L four-cylinder turbocharged engine found in Alfa Romeo 4C, generating 177kW of power and 450Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

In terms of design, the connection between the 1000SP and its 1966 source material is clear. Up front, the reworked 4C has four round headlights, with LED running thin in the grille below. The bonnet also has a unique design.

At the rear, the 4C’s rounded taillights have been reworked to make them more historically accurate, while the bumper and rear vents have been tweaked for a more classic look.

“Exactly 55 years after the launch of its predecessor, the Abarth 1000 SP – only a single model produced to date – is once again ready to upgrade its offering,” Abarth said in the report. its press data when revealing the latest 1000 SP concept in 2021.
