Dogs are some of the most forgiving creatures in existence. Even when their humans hurt them, they still give love and affection. They always think the best when it comes to their loved ones, even if those people don’t deserve it.
A Pennsylvania Collie mix is one of many dogs that are not properly loved by humans. Her family abandoned her at a park in cold weather, but Collie refuses to admit that it’s over. She kept waiting at that park every day for them to return and she didn’t want help from anyone else.
Rescuers were determined to save the dog
When Janine Guido from Speranza Animal Rescue heard about the dog in the park, she went to pick her up. However, whenever she approaches the dog, the puppy will run away. In the end, Guido was able to get the dog to take the food from her hand, but the dog still refused to be chained. The dog continues to move to different locations, but she always stays close to the park in the hope that her family will return.
People kept reporting sightings of the dog to the rescue, but two days passed without anyone seeing the puppy. Later, someone informed Guido that they found the sly dog sleeping under their back porch. The dog got scared again, but Guido eventually chained her and took her to his car. She named the beautiful dog Carla.
“We got her! I’m so excited,” Guido said in a live video. “Your new life has begun. You are safe now and we love you.
The rescue had a foster home available for Carla. So the lucky puppy will experience the warmth of a cozy home for the first time in a while.
Carla embraces her new life
At first, Carla hesitates in her foster home because she still longs for her family to return. Despite looking very young, the vet estimated that Carla was about ten years old. She doesn’t have a microchip and she’s 15 to 20 pounds underweight. No one in the area recognized her, so it’s unclear who dumped her.
Guido said: “She was so sweet, so scary. “But once she was in my car it seemed like she knew she was safe.”

Carla’s adoptive mother spoiled her to the fullest. The Collie mix loves salty snacks, and she has to go on hiking adventures with her foster siblings. Right after that, her tail started wagging and her true personality appeared.
About a month after Carla came to the rescue, someone adopted her. Thanks to the love of her foster family, she seems ready to move into a new home, even though it means her old family won’t be coming back. It only took her a few days to get used to her new self. She quickly learned that she loved running around the yard, cuddling in bed, and receiving delicious treats. This beautiful girl is now living the dream just like she deserves!
