Aaron Rodgers stands by Packers’ offense comment, saying no one raised the issue with him

GREEN BAY, Wis. – If there’s anyone inside Green Bay Packers‘the changing room has a problem with the midfielder Aaron Rodgers‘assess their offense and who should – or shouldn’t – get playtime, then they haven’t addressed that with him.

Not his teammates.

And not coach Matt LaFleur.

That’s according to Rodgers on Wednesday, a day after his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” made waves because the quarterback said, among other things, that the players “had it” too many bugs should not play. Gotta started to cut some rep. And maybe those who don’t play, give them a chance.”

Rodgers said there’s nothing he hasn’t shared behind closed doors inside the team’s headquarters at Lambeau Field.

“If one of those people has a problem with it, I’m right here, and I’d love to talk,” Rodgers said. “I like those conversations. I like any kind of conflict like that because I know how resolving it on the other side will make us a better unit, a better friendship, a better relationship. better bond on the pitch, but nobody comes to me and says, ‘I have a problem with what you say.’ I think everyone knows, including Matt, that things have to step up a little, get a little better.”

Rodgers also did not deny those comments when asked to clarify them.

“I don’t understand why people have a problem with things that are true,” Rodgers said. “I’m calling things the way I see them. People don’t think I need to get those things out in the open, that’s their opinion. But I’m doing what I think is in the best interest of my life. for our boys, and I’ve tried a lot of different things from a leadership standpoint this year, and I’m just stating my personal feelings about the situation. I’m not naming anyone. We both need to get to the details, and that includes me.”

Rodgers said he’s available to chat further with teammates and coaches during the week to help fix things up. To that extent, Rodgers, who didn’t practice Wednesday because of an injured right thumb – which he wouldn’t say was broken – has rescheduled treatment so he can participate in rehearsals and still call plays in the crowd. Packers also conduct regular weekly meetings between themselves and their recipients.

On Tuesday, Rodgers told McAfee they have missed duty or made mental errors on 20% of their offensive play in games this season, including last Sunday’s loss. Washington Commanders causing the Packers to drop to 3-4 after starting 3-1.

“If you don’t do or do or do the things that you’re supposed to do, then I’ll be with Aaron,” veteran receiver Sammy Watkins said on Wednesday. “If I’m not playing well and I’m worried and I’m not playing well, take me out of the game because it doesn’t help the team. I think that’s a wake-up call for everyone, a wake-up call for myself. I try to limit myself to having an MA in a game and that’s my goal. The goal is none, but everything happens in the fire. Me with Aaron, man.”

Watkins returns on Sunday after a four-week absence with a hamstring injury, and rookie Christian Watson may be back for this Sunday’s match at Buffalo Bills (5-1) after being missing for two weeks due to the same trauma. However, they may not have Allen Lazardwho didn’t train Wednesday because of a shoulder injury.

When rookie Samori Toure has been active for the Washington game, which means that every recipient on the roster has a chance this season. So unless Rodgers is referring to the practice team receiver Juwann Winfree (who had one 17-yard catch in three games for which he was lifted from the practice team) or laner Travis Fulgham (who has never played in a game for the Packers), then it’s unclear who he thinks should play more.

“I think it’s just, we have to get our best number 11 on the pitch and if that means there’s going to be different sets of personnel, then we’re going to have to do that,” Rodgers said. “But we can’t make a double-digit mental error, add 15 and hope to move the ball efficiently.”

LaFleur gave no indication that he took issue with Rodgers’ comments.

“We have to be honest with each other,” LaFleur said. “Sometimes the truth hurts. … I don’t think he’s publicly called out the individual’s name, I don’t believe it, I didn’t sit there and listen to the whole thing, so I just think you have to get it. out the root of truth.”

Green Bay opened with a 10.5-point loss, and late Wednesday the line turned 11.5 at Caesars Sportsbook. Rodgers has never been less than 8.5 points in his career, according to research by ESPN Stats & Information. His 234 career starts (including regular season and knockout) is the most of any quarterback to never have been a double-digit team in the Super Bowl era. Rodgers is 0-4, including knockouts, which is a loser or loser more.

“You can be a dangerous team when you feel like you have a lot to show, and when you’re out,” Rodgers said. “So I welcome the fact that we are counted as much as possible. I always enjoy that feeling. And for these boys, who have so much to prove, hopefully they embrace it too. It’s time to make a name for yourself in this tournament and a lot of guys will have a chance on Sunday. On national television, with millions and millions of people watching – great time for some the guy stepped into the spotlight.”
