We have no control over what is in the environment or how the light behaves, and so we must be skillful in positioning, parameter selection and framing to create images that are simultaneously orderly and interesting. One of the unique aspects of landscape work is that lighting is completely out of our control, and while it helps to read forecasts and plan ahead, it’s at best educated guesses. knowledge and actual conditions are often different. Being willing to be flexible and get rid of the images you have in your head when the conditions are in their favor and working with what the light and environment are giving you is a good recipe for success and more enjoyment with pursuit.
