In the local A-segment market, the three standout models are the Perodua Axia and Bezza as well as the Proton Saga. Last month saw a fierce battle between the two models on the sales charts, with the Bezza registering 7,980 registrations compared to the Saga’s 7,838, while the Axia topped the charts with 7,675.

The registration figures you see here are extracted from a publicly available database from data.gov.my, which is linked to the Land Transport Department (JPJ). This database is also used for our reporting on mass market segment B And electric vehicle (EV) markets – check them out.

In terms of year-to-date (YTD) figures, the Bezza has sold 55,080 units in the first seven months of this year, nearly 9% higher than the second-placed Axia with 50,597 units, while the Saga is now third with 41,873 units.

The Bezza is Perodua’s best-selling car in 2023and based on sales performance so far, this feat looks set to be repeated this year as the model’s total sales through May were 55,080 units, outpacing both the Axia and Myvi (41,466 units).

Of the three models mentioned, the Axia is the newest because it launched in February last year.
