It’s normal for Julie Thornton Johnson and her husband Jimmy to have several dogs in bed. They have three furry friends who love to be cuddled up at night. So when they saw a dog right next to them on the pillow, the couple didn’t think about it.
But when they woke up in the morning, they didn’t realize the dog was snuggled up next to them. However, worry was the furthest thing from their mind at the time. Instead, all they could do was laugh and wonder how the dog got inside without alerting the others.
Determined to cuddle
When Jimmy wakes up, he asks Julie who the dog in the bed is. Julie realized that they had never seen the dog before, but the puppy had made his own at home. She seemed friendly so the couple didn’t bother to move her.
Julie took some pictures of the relaxed dog and posted them online. While waiting for a response, she had a lot of questions.
“One, how did the dog get into my house? And two, we have three dogs, and they bark at anything. A squirrel in the yard, a rabbit, a bird, they bark. And there was no noise,” Julie said.
The couple then realized that the back door must have been opened by accident. However, it is still a mystery how the dog got lost in their home and jumped on their bed without causing an uproar.
Time to go home
Soon after, Julie’s funny post about the strange dog went viral. Cris Hawkins discovered the post and texted Julie, saying the dog was hers and named Nala. Hawkins lives in several houses, and she believes Nala must have slipped off her collar at night and run down the street. When the puppy craved attention, she made her way into Julie’s house.

Julie asks Hawkins for proof of ownership before giving up on Nala. Hawkins sent her lots of pictures, including some Christmas ones. Jimmy still cuddles Nala when her family comes to pick her up. Nala doesn’t want to get out of her comfort zone, but she’s happy to see who she is. Julie and Jimmy joke that they will have another dog if no one takes her.
Julie and Jimmy have since befriended the women who own Nala, and the silly story has gone viral. Everyone involved found the situation hilarious, and it was a day none of them would ever forget.
