Design and Construction

The 28-105mm f/2.8 lens is designed to deliver class-leading performance in a compact, lightweight body. Weighing just under 1kg, it is portable for handheld shooting while still offering a constant f/2.8 aperture. The use of magnesium alloy for the lens near the mount reduces weight without sacrificing rigidity.

The lens features a 12-blade circular aperture for smooth bokeh and advanced optical elements, including two FLD elements and one SLD element, that reduce aberrations and deliver sharp images across the frame. The lens is equipped with five aspherical elements that contribute to the reduction of lens size while maintaining optical quality.

Performance Features

With a minimum focusing distance of 40cm and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.1 at the telephoto end, the lens allows users to capture detailed close-ups, adding versatility to its already impressive feature set. A High Response Linear Actuator (HLA) provides fast and accurate autofocus, ensuring the lens performs well in a variety of shooting conditions, including fast-paced action or video work.

Additionally, advanced lens coatings help reduce flare and ghosting, improving contrast and clarity in difficult lighting conditions. The lens also boasts minimal focus loss, a feature that is especially important for videographers who need consistent framing while shifting focus.

Availability

Priced at $1,499, the Sigma 28-105mm f/2.8 DG DN | Art lens will be available starting September 26, 2024.
