JD Vance, fresh from doughnut shop disaster, booed at event with firefighters

Vice presidential candidate JD Vance had another awkward human interaction on Thursday, when he spoke at a firefighters union event in Boston, where not everyone was happy to see him.

After taking the stage at the International Association of Fire Fighters convention, Vance was met with boos from the crowd, to which he responded, “We have some — it sounds like we have some fans and some haters. That’s OK.”

At another point in the speech, Vance was booed when he declared the Trump-Vance ticket “the most pro-worker Republican ticket in history.” (Earlier this month, Donald Trump be praised Elon Musk for firing workers who were striking or threatening to strike, leading to the impeachment of the president of the United Auto Workers Shawn Fain to declare, “When we say Donald Trump is a saboteur, this is what we mean. When we say Trump is against everything our alliance stands for, this is what we mean.”) Some of Vance’s lines received applause.

Last week, Vance visited a doughnut shop in Georgia, a campaign stop that involved a deeply uncomfortable interaction that the Ohio senator later blamed on his staff.
