Refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon Gets Column Shifter, Large Touchscreen, and New AT4 Denali Equipment

Automobile Corporation General Motors has had a hard time differentiating some of its brands and models that share a common platform for a long time, but that appears to be changing with General Motors’ refreshed 2025 full-size SUVs. Chevrolet Cars released Updated 2025 Tahoe and Suburban design by the end of 2023, but GMC just released update 2025 Yukon and Yukon XL with completely different interior design than both Chevy and Cadillac companion platform. 2025 GMC Yukon features an all-new dashboard with a 16.8-inch vertically oriented display infotainment screen is the centerpiece, and it now offers the first AT4 Ultimate version that incorporates on the street ability with luxury amenities.

The updated exterior of the 2025 Yukon is a nice modernization of the current truck’s face, becoming more aggressive and striking than ever before, though not dramatically different from the current truck or the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. The interior is where the biggest changes are, with a new dashboard design and a giant vertical tablet-style infotainment screen dominating the landscape. At least the touchscreen now has standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Fortunately, the redesign also ditches the current model’s unnecessary push/pull shifter design in favor of a user-friendly column shifter.

Gasoline powertrain options remain the same as the outgoing model, with a 5.3-liter engine making 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque standard on the Elevation and AT4 trims, and a 6.2-liter V8 making 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque standard on the AT4 Ultimate, Denali, and Denali Ultimate trims and optional on the AT4 trims. The 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel inline-six gets an increase of 28 horsepower and 35 pound-feet of torque, bringing output to 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque. All models come standard with a 10-speed automatic transmission, but EPA fuel economy estimates for the updated truck have not yet been released.

The Denali Ultimate trim now comes with 24-inch wheels, and the second row now gets a new Executive Seat option, which adds 16-way power, heated, ventilated, and massage seats to the second row as well as the first row. The new AT4 Ultimate trim gets a four-corner adaptive suspension with a 2-inch lift for improved ground clearance, front skid plates, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and some unique interior materials and accents.

The upgrade brings more active safety features like pedestrian braking, rear cross-traffic braking, and intersection automatic emergency braking, as well as new night vision. The Yukon’s towing experience is also improved, with new technologies like jackknife warning and reverse trailer trajectory to help tow drivers feel more confident. Maximum towing capacity is 8,400 lbs for the Yukon and 8,200 lbs for the Yukon XL, although GMC doesn’t mention which engine configurations offer that capability.

Pricing for the refreshed 2025 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL has yet to be announced, though it will be available closer to its expected on-sale date in late 2024, although the diesel is listed as being available later. The updates to the Yukon should help it continue to be popular with full-size SUV buyers, though prices will likely increase over the current model.
