GMC Yukon 2025: New American Beast Heads Down Under

General Motors has announced its competitor Toyota LandCruiser In Australia, launched the upgraded version of the GMC Yukon.

Expected in Australia by 2025, GMC Yukon will hit local showrooms in Denali trim only, one of the most luxurious full-size SUVs.

Based on the same platform as Chevrolet Silverado 1500The GMC Yukon sits between GM’s flagship Chevrolet brand and flagship Cadillac in terms of luxury, and pricing is expected to reflect that when it arrives in Australia.

With the less luxurious Silverado pickup starting at around $130,000, it’s likely the Yukon will be priced higher when it launches here, potentially on par with the top-of-the-line model. Toyota LandCruiser The Sahara LX starts at nearly $146,000 before on-road costs.

It’s not known how many features from the US’s top-of-the-line Yukon Denali Ultimate will also make their way to the local Yukon Denali, while Australian specifications will be finalised closer to launch.

Features on the top-of-the-line SUV include a 16.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, 16-way power front seats with heating and ventilation, wood interior trim, a 22-speaker Bose sound system and air suspension.

The Yukon AT4 Ultimate – which sits below the Denali – gets magnetic ride control, full-grain leather upholstery, and 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires.

The car is equipped with an impressive range of safety systems, including adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking (AEB) – with pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assist and rear braking – blind spot monitoring, lane keeping assist, rear cross traffic alert and a surround-view camera.

American buyers can choose between three engines across the Yukon range, including 5.3- and 6.2-liter gasoline V8s – and a 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel six-cylinder.

Like the Silverado, it’s understood the most powerful V8 will come to Australia, with GMC likely to also only bring the Yukon here with four-wheel drive to best compete with the LandCruiser, Lexus LX twins, and Nissan Patrol.

While the 3800kg braked towing capacity may not be available in Australia, towing aids such as transparent trailer view, reversing guidance, rollover warning and blind spot steering assist are expected to be available here.
