One of the best parts about working at Jalopnik is getting to drive And review cars. However, there are other people writing reviews of other cars and they may be able to give better reviews.
Over the weekend I discovered the wonderful world of Pickup truck reviews, especially those made by YouTube channels Fast TRX. Now, this channel isn’t just about truck reviews. In fact, it’s a family-owned trucking company that makes videos about everything trucking. From how to change the starter on a Carrier refrigerated trailer to how to pass the CDL test, it’s all there.
Among those helpful videos are the gems of the big truck reviews. These are comprehensive reviews of the latest trucks from all the major manufacturers. The most recent review is of the 605-horsepower 2025 Peterbilt 579—a truck available with a PACCAR or Cummins diesel—a Class 8 truck with a sleeper cab.
Reviews even cover aspects of the sleeper cab. From roof height to bunk mattress size, it’s information you’ll probably never need — unless you’re a truck driver.
What’s the downside to these reviews? The fact is, there aren’t many of them. A YouTube search will get you a few, but most of the channels that post them have posted a review or two that are a few years old. None of them are as detailed and helpful as the TRX Express. So if you’re out there and you’re a truck driver or even a big truck enthusiast, start a channel and start doing reviews. I need more content to watch this weekend.
