Life can change in the blink of an eye – sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worse. A man who loved his dog Hero found himself on the streets after falling on hard times. The man and his dog often struggled to find food and suitable shelter. Despite these hardships, the man loved Hero deeply. Knowing that he could not do right by the dog, he made the selfless decision to surrender Hero so that his beloved dog could find a better life. Hero was surrendered to a shelter in California where a rescue group stepped in.
The rescue group transports animals from overcrowded shelters to British Columbia to give the animals the best chance of finding a new home. Hero was chosen to accompany the rescue group on their next trip up north. A wonderful woman, Sarah, and her husband heard about Hero and came to meet him as soon as he arrived. Sarah knew immediately that she wanted to adopt Hero but wanted her husband to make the decision. As soon as her husband started to say how much he wanted to adopt Hero, Sarah chimed in and said she felt the same way!
Hero has found his forever family, and his future looks bright! He’s gone home to his new parents, and the couple is thrilled with him. He’s an instant cuddle bug with a great personality.
Hero is a bit lazy and would rather spend his days curled up with his parents than go hiking. In fact, he seems overwhelmed by the outside world, which his parents believe is probably due to the years he has spent outside.
Hero also has his own safe place in his new home. If he gets scared, he will go into the bathroom and sit on the bath mat until his fear subsides. He will even pull his ‘comfort’ mat over to his mother when she seems distressed. He is very sensitive to his family’s emotions.
Thanks to his forgiving owner, Hero ended up where he belongs. We’re so grateful for this happy ending. To watch Hero’s story, click on the video below.
