ASBK 2023
Supersport 300 Second race
Just seconds after the second ASBK Supersport 300 match took place at Phillip Island this morning, red flags were raised because of some problems with the starting process so the drivers were back to line up again.
When the lights went out, Swain made a good run as Russo and Snell seemed to collide at the starting line, elbows out!
A group of nine riders quickly separated themselves from the rest of the chase. The main characters in that lead group are Henry Snell, Cameron Swain, Luke Jhonston, Brodie Gawith, Jai Russo, Brandon Demmery, Cooper Rowntree, Casey Middleton and Marcus Hamod.
As they started the final lap, a few drops of rain could be felt but that wasn’t enough to slow these youngsters down.
Jai Russo excellently finished the penultimate lap, which was the fastest lap of the race, 1m48,777, but Swain soon overtook him in the final lap and the duo began their final battle until the end. bar.
Russo and Swain switched places again but the chasers got closer behind them at the end of the round and on the 11th turn it could still be anyone….
Swain is in second place just three corners away but is ninth thanks to the checkered flag!
Crafty veteran Brandon Demmery showed his experience when he moved at the right time to come back from that lead to score a goal.
Henry Snell came in second and Jai Russo stepped onto the podium ahead of Cooper Rowntree, Luke Jhonston, Brodie Gawith, Casey Middleton, Marcus Hamod and Cameron Swain in ninth, just five-tenths behind the winner.
There was then a substantial 13-second gap to return to tenth place Tara Morrison, who crossed the line just ahead of Josh Newman and Lincoln Knight.
