Maryland Horsemen Host Forum with Scollay
The Maryland Thoroughbred Riders Association and the Maryland Jockey Club will host an open horse forum on February 21 with Dr. Mary Scollay, chief scientific officer of the Maryland Thoroughbred Equestrian Association. Horseracing Welfare & Integrity Unitand will discuss the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Administration’s Anti-Doping and Drug Control Program.
The forum will be held at 11 a.m. ET in the conference area adjacent to the Shipping Room at Laurel Park.
While everyone is encouraged to attend in person, the event will be available via Zoom and all online attendees must register in advance. Once registered, participants will receive a confirmation email and information about accessing the webinar.

HIWU was established by Drug Free Sport International to administer the ADMC Program for HISA. Scollay was hired in October 2022 to oversee HISA’s laboratory accreditation program. She is responsible for prioritizing research development on prohibited substances and engaging with veterinary scientists, pharmacists, and others in the Purebred industry.
Scollay and her team will also curate a database of prohibited substances that will be available to industry stakeholders to use as a reference tool. She previously served as the executive director of the Association of Experimental and Drug Racing. She has directed the promotion of world-class laboratory drug testing standards, promoted RMTC-recommended rules and penalties for prohibited substances and therapeutic drugs, and monitored threats. emerging threats to the integrity of racing and the welfare of racehorses, and oversees research projects and educational programs funded by the RMTC.
