Santa Anita cancels race on December 30th due to heavy rain
More than an inch of rain expected for Wednesday, December 29, has brought Santa Anita . Park to cancel the race on Thursday, December 30.
The National Weather Service has forecast the heaviest rain Wednesday and continues through Thursday morning. Friday’s forecast is a combination of sun and clouds.
Live racing will return on Friday, December 31, but the three grass-court races scheduled for Thursday have been moved to the weekend when the weather should be much improved. Robert J. Frankel Stakes (G3), a 1/8 mile race for dogs and horses 3 years of age and older, will take place January 1, with two 1-mile 2-year-old grass races — the Eddie Logan Stakes and Blue Norther Stakes — to be held on January 2.
