Grizzlies’ Brooks suspended, Cavs’ Mitchell fined for brawl
NBA on Friday suspended grizzly‘ Dillon Brooks for a game and get fined Cavalry‘ Donovan Mitchell $20,000 for their roles in a scuffle that got them both dropped from Thursday night’s game in Cleveland.
Midway through the third round of Cleveland’s 128–113 win, Brooks rolled onto Mitchell’s leg and swung his arm up to hit Mitchell in the groin.
In response, Mitchell threw the ball at Brooks and pushed him. In the end, Brooks was blatantly fouled 2, sending him off, while Mitchell was given a technical penalty because he was also sent off.
“That’s who he is,” Mitchell told reporters after Thursday’s game. “We’ve seen that a lot in this team with him. He and I have had individual battles over the years.
“There’s no room for that in the game. This has been brewing for years with me and others in the league. You all see that. This is nothing new.”
Brooks now won’t play Sunday at home first Toronto Raptors. Cleveland’s next game is Sunday against Indiana Pacers.
