Oris teamed up with Canadian aerial firefighters Coulson Aviation to create Limited Edition Coulsona Big Crown ProPilot watch with an unusual 3D printed carbon fiber case and vibrant orange dial.

Oris Coulson limited edition, Big Crown ProPilot watch with unusual 3D printed carbon fiber case.

Oris created the 41mm case with support from the Swiss university ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology). The researchers there used high-grade polymer PEKK developed for the aerospace industry. Technicians weave the material with carbon fiber to create a strong and ultra-lightweight material.

According to Oris, the process is so precise that you can create a pattern on the case. Most carbon fiber watch cases develop random patterns.

Oris then completed the watch with a gray PVD-plated titanium bezel, screw-down crown and caseback, and a black woven strap. The watch and the movement both weigh 65 grams.

The flaming dial is intended to recall the work of Coulson’s fire pilots, who rushed towards the flames while others turned their backs. Inside the Oris fits the wonderful and equally innovative COSC-rated Caliber 400, an anti-magnetic movement with a five-day power reserve.

Along with the release Limited Edition CoulsonOris is promoting a documentary called “Firebird.” Oris produced the 14-minute short documentary in-house.
