Along with the PGA Tour, Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s TGL secured the first two signings. World No.5 Jon Rahm and World No.8 Justin Thomas have been announced as future participants of the golf tournament that will begin in January 2024. The four of them already own 22 titles. Major championships and over 120 wins at the PGA Tour.

“I’m delighted to be joining Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas in TGL,” Rahm said on Twitter. “As soon as I knew about the tournament, I joined! It would be great to participate in an activity that combines my love of technology with the opportunity to introduce golf to a wider global audience. .”

Although new tournaments have become commonplace these days, this is inherently different from the standard golf tournament seen on a weekly basis. TGL’s mission is to combine cutting-edge technology and live action in a custom-built arena. Competitors and teams will compete with all-round shots tracked by simulators and short shots that take place in the arena right in front of the fans. The tournament will begin with six teams of three PGA Tour players, meaning only 14 spots are left. As with anything associated with Woods, one can assume that these gaps will quickly be filled.

Boasting the regular 15 games of the season, followed by knockouts and a championship run, matches are scheduled to take place weekly on Monday nights. With little time to rest or travel between rounds, the relatively fast-paced nature of these matches will be an interesting change.
