Bulldog stolen in broad daylight in NYC, family pleads for help in finding him
An NYC resident is begging for help after his beloved Bulldog, Off White, was stolen as they went for a mid-day walk. The 75-year-old dog’s parents were approached by a man who started petting the dog, only for him to grab the terrified puppy and drive his scooter away.
Carlos and Off White were walking along their usual walking path when an unknown man approached. He first showed interest in petting a 1-year-old Bulldog named Off White, so Carlos allowed him to lean over and say hello to his beloved pet dog.
What initially seemed like a sweet moment quickly turned into something terrifying as the unnamed man grabbed Off White’s back and pulled him into his lap. He started speeding up his engine to try to run away, but Carlos wouldn’t let that happen without a fight.
When Carlos realized what was happening, he jumped in front of the scooter and tried to block the thief’s way. After struggling for a few seconds, the man was able to overtake Carlos and make his way down the street. Unfortunately, the thief still had Off White in hand as he sped away.
“When he was cycling, I was trying to push him. He ran away, but I thought he was going to hit the pole. Because I want to take him out.” – Carlos Gil
Carlos immediately reported the incident to the local police department, sharing details of the horrific interaction on 95th Avenue and 88th Street in Ozone Park. The police department collected any surveillance footage in the area that could assist in identifying the man, and thankfully, the man’s face was captured on camera.
Police have shared photos and videos of the interaction in the hope someone has useful information. They asked anyone in the area to watch scene in case they might know something and contact local authorities if they have any information that could lead to Off White being found. Pet parents have now raised $800 for anyone with information.
“I understand right now you might be afraid of getting in trouble or someone in trouble, but the dog can be released in a park where people are around. He can be taken to the police station, no one has to see anything.” – Carlos Gil
We can’t imagine how Off White’s family is feeling, and we deeply hope he will be found safe and sound!
