Polestar 5 confirmed with 884 hp, 800 volts architecture
The flagship Polestar 5 EV will feature an 800-volt electric architecture and a powerful dual-motor all-wheel drive system, Polestar confirmed Wednesday in a press release.
Together, the two engines make 884 hp and 663 lb-ft of torque. Polestar doesn’t break down the outputs specifically for each engine, but does note that the rear engine is more powerful.

A fast four-door electric vehicle that will take the top spot in the brand’s lineup, the Polestar 5 appears as a camouflaged prototype at this week’s 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed. That event is traditionally not aimed at EV fans but at car enthusiasts in general — possibly the kind of audience Polestar is looking for.
Polestar 5 is will go on sale in 2024 and leans heavily on the Precept concept revealed in 2020 — albeit within the usual doors for the Precept’s suicide doors. It is clearly targeted to compete with Tesla Model WILLLucid Air, and Mercedes-Benz EQS — as well as Porsche Taycan to some extent.

Polestar has been moving towards becoming a Porsche rival, and it’s growing electric motor, battery and architecture, though it will still share a lot with parent brand Volvo. It is also moving to distance itself from its original Volvo styling, as demonstrated by the Precept and more recently. Polestar O2 roadster concept.
Before Polestar 5, a US-built company Polestar 3 The SUV is expected to launch in early 2023, followed by the smaller, more coupe-like Polestar 4 SUV in late 2023. With these new models, Polestar wants to double its sales. 10 times from about 29,000 units in 2021 to 290,000 units. end of 2025.
