Mazda MX-30 EV 2022 sold out quite a lot, 2023 details are vague

Weird life of 2022 Mazda MX-30 tram continues to be odd. Report go out that it sold out, leading to a number of other questions about the model, especially if that means Mazda called it dropping the MX-30 in the US. We contacted the company and received some clear, but the car’s future remains uncertain.

Here are the answers from a Mazda representative to our original question about sales and future models:

“Birth of 2022 MX-30 EV in California was a hit, and the model sold out in July. Five hundred and five of the 560 are expected to have been sold for the 2022 model year. Production of the 2022 model year MX-30 and sales in the US are moderately affected by production shortages.

“Mazda has not shared any new updates on this model. We cannot comment on future products but look forward to sharing more details regarding their electrification strategy soon. I.”

We understand that means Mazda has sold every 2022 MX-30 it will make to the US, and it would have hit its production target of 560 if it weren’t for production issues. When pushed just to confirm a 2023 electric model, not even
range extenders are said to be still plannedThe representative replied thus, “Mazda has yet to share any information about the 2023 MX-30 model. We will share more details about our electrification strategy soon.”

That almost sounds like a confirmation that there will be another model year of the MX-30, likely
Dip into the mixture. And that
mixture is expected to appear sometime next year. But it’s also vague enough to leave Mazda some headroom if they decide to pull back from the model for the United States.
