Episode 489 – Shaka Senghor Growing up, Shaka Senghor wanted to be a doctor. But at the age of 14, he ran away from his unsettled home. By the age of 19, he was in prison. While in prison, he begins to unravel his past, seeking to understand how he went from a bright boy to solitary confinement. Shaka spoke with David about the overwhelming challenges young people face in neighborhoods such as where he grew up, the glamor of drug culture, the injustice of the criminal justice system, working father and his new book, “Letters to Sons Belonging to Society.” May 12, 2022
