Capcom seems to be on the upswing, with news that the Japanese publisher and developer has had to revise their earnings forecasts simply because their games are selling well.
Favorable performance from Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and Resident Evil: Village have been cited as some of the main reasons for the earnings forecast revision.
“In our core Digital Content business, we’ve seen favorable performance from titles like Resident Evil Villageis the latest game in the series, as well as Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruinan RPG in Monster Hunter series.”
Monster Hunter Rise has also continued to grow thanks to the release of the game on PC earlier this year in January. Various other Capcom lines also contributed, along with sales held in Q4.
“Furthermore, in addition to releasing the PC version in January of Monster Hunter Risea title originally released in March 2021, sales have increased due to the steady popularity of titles in the catalog — primarily titles formerly in major films — and due to the Positive action of price reductions held in the fourth quarter.
“Overall, this leads us to expect net sales to exceed our previous forecast. Additionally, we expect operating income, ordinary income and net owner income for the company. The parent company’s performance exceeded our plan.”
According to Capcom’s Official sales dataMonster Hunter Rise is now officially the seventh best-selling game of all time (as of March 2021).
