Emma Brooks told me her best secret for healthy hair
Do you have a basic beauty philosophy or advice that you would like to give others about beauty?
I believe preparation is the most important part. Before the actual makeup, I believe that prepping your hair, prepping your skin will make you feel your best. If you put on a lot of makeup and that skin is slipping away, you will feel gross. But if you prep your skin and hair or whatever can be precise while styling, you will feel very natural. It’s better for me to feel naturally beautiful than to feel like you’re wearing a bunch of hair products, a bunch of makeup, a bunch of skin care products — it makes you look dull. Feeling as natural as possible makes me feel my best, at least.
Paul Mitchell has really good ingredients in their hair care, and that’s another reason why I love them so much. I have become quite strict about the ingredients in my hair and the things I use. I looked at each bottle that was given to me. Even when my boyfriend says, “I need help finding shampoo. Can you help me?” and we’re at Target, I just go through each bottle and go through the ingredients. I can only rely on Paul Mitchell to not have any minerals, sulfates, phthalates, alcohol. whatever — anything your hair shouldn’t have won’t be there.
