Which Sega franchise revival do you most want?
Next week marks the 20th anniversary of the second game in Jet station Franchising, Jet Set Radio Future! Sadly, there was never a third. So we’re thinking about the Sega franchise revival we’d love to see! What do you want the most inactive long series to get a new life?
Three words: Arcadian sky. It’s a JRPG to play on the Dreamcast, and even now costs quite a bit if you’re hoping for a copy. Everything about Arcadian sky resonated with me during a rather turbulent time in my life. It’s also one of the only games that actually uses a VMU. I carried my VMU everywhere, burned a few batteries and made a lot of gold which was very handy. I’d love to see a proper remake for current-gen consoles and have Pinta’s Quest as a companion app on my phone. – Annette
I’ll admit: I’ve been lucky with Sega stuff in recent years! Puyo Puyo Tetris bring Puyo back to the audience it deserves. Chronicles of Valkyria 4, though I hope it’s not the last, revived a strategic franchise like no other. And it’s not quite idealbut Apple Arcade Missile ChuChu! the game at least shows someone is thinking about it. But what if we really try! Mainstream platform, precise gamepad controls, competitive online multiplayer. You look shall! – Graham
There is not a new one Shinobi The game has been out since the 3DS title in 2011. The action series has a long history that dates back to the late 80s. However, I have the most memories with the PlayStation 2 game and its sequel. Nightshade. I still remember the fun feeling of slashing multiple enemies and ending them all with a quick finishing blow. I’d really like to see Sega remake these games for existing platforms or even create a new game based on them. – Kite
I want a suitable Phantasy Star game! Phantasy Star Online is popular and profitable. The Phantasy Star Portable Monster Hunter-likes did well. But I miss the traditional JRPGs from the Master System and Genesis days. I believe with all my heart Phantasy Star 3 That’s why I like games with a dating sim element. Also, Phantasy Star 4 is the game that really got me hooked on JRPGs. A return to form would be lovely. – Jenny
Personally, I would love to see it house of death back in some way, shape or form. With the rise of the survival horror genre and with first-person games like Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7 prove these games can be successful, I’d like to see a house of death header in that vein. It would be great if Sega revived that franchise, or took it in an entirely different direction. – Kazuma
I’d love for Sega to continue the franchise revival that’s currently underway, which means I want them to keep trying. Sakura Wars happening! The most recent game isn’t the best in the series, but it’s a good one. Unfortunately, apart from the sad passing of Sakura Revolution mobile games and Sakura Wars units appear in Super robot war 30Not much game-wise operation.
With brand awareness outside of Japan now much higher than at any time prior to the Dreamcast era, this would be the perfect time to announce the ports and localizations of previous games for current platforms. The environment is just right to accept a colorful strategy game with elements of romance, and Sega should jump at that opportunity. – Josh
