Benny Butcher says Houston shooters pulled him ‘like the army’
Benny the Butcher says he was ambushed in the 2020 Houston shooting that left him in a wheelchair for some time afterward.
They approached his friend first.
“I almost wanted to knock the gun down and take him down,” he said. He said he was running back to his Rolls Royce when another person approached him with a gun. “I was like, man, you know, they got me. That’s when they stepped back, looked around and hit me in the leg,” he said.
“Honestly, I don’t think they shot me for running,” he told DJ Envy. “I don’t know, I can’t speak for them but I feel – it’s a little guy and these are young boys,” he continued. “Before I was shot, I was 195 years old. I lost a bit of weight. I felt like n*ggas really didn’t want to come near me until I was disabled.”
The rapper added, “The other thing about that situation, you know, a lot of n*ggas think there’s only two n*ggas going around with me like that, it’s not. N*ggas come in like an army. So even now without security, that’s still not enough. For my situation, it’s not enough,” he said. “It’s about not putting yourself in those situations and having a deterrent. This really isn’t – if one of my dogs rushes out and attacks something, it’s over. late. We made a mistake.”
