Brian Kelly ‘ghost’ Notre Dame coaching staff, players follow LSU news
By the time news broke that current Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly would take over at LSU, Notre Dame’s coaching staff and players had been left in the dark.
This news may have come as a shock to fans, but it was even more shocking to those who worked with and played for Kelly. The athlete’s Matt Fortuna spoke to various Notre Dame employees on Monday following the news, and many of them found out the same way fans did – via a news announcement on Twitter.
THAN: Why did Brian Kelly leave Notre Dame?
An assistant happened to be visiting a recruiter’s house tonight. He watches the news on his phone while he is leaving the employer’s house.
This is usually the way these things go, but Brian Kelly has blighted everyone at Notre Dame. Just talked to an assistant who saw the report on his phone tonight as he was leaving a recruiter’s house: “The news broke when I stepped out of the house, so I looked like like a hole.”

THAN: Brian Kelly announced he will never leave Notre Dame last week, now head to LSU
Kelly “polishing” his former colleague now is nothing new in the world of college football. This happens frequently whenever a coach leaves their school.
However, it didn’t help that just a week ago, Kelly told reporters he had no intention of leaving Notre Dame any time soon. The extension of his contract that he signed in 2020 is supposed to run until 2024. So his coaching staff certainly don’t see this move imminent.

ESPN reports Monday night that many employees at Notre Dame have yet to hear from Kelly on the move. It is unclear who Kelly spoke to personally, if at all.
The Notre Dame soccer players haven’t actually posted about their coach leaving the show. However, they were also not aware of the change in advance. The coaching staff at Notre Dame have also yet to make any announcements about Kelly’s departure.
