About 80 people broke into a Nordstrom store near San Francisco on Saturday and stole merchandise in what authorities called “organized theft.”
Police in Walnut Creek speak Sunday that they arrested three people in connection with the luxury department store incident, including one for allegedly possessing a firearm.
“The rest of the mob fled the area by car at high speed,” the officials added.
Video of the scene was posted on Twitter by NBC Bay Area reporter Jodi Hernandez on Twitter Car blocking the road outside the store as people run away and police arrest in front of the gun.
NPR has reached out to Nordstrom for comment but did not immediately receive a response.
The mass theft is the latest in a countless large scale robberies to hit the Bay Area, from pharmacies to jewelry stores to marijuana dispensaries, according to LA time.
Walnut Creek Police said they began receiving calls Saturday night about reckless motorists in the area of Broadway Plaza.
Nordstrom just before 9:00 p.m. Employees began calling 911 when the group entered the store and began stealing products.
Police said the suspects assaulted two Nordstrom workers and pepper sprayed another.
“There were a lot of people,” said Brett Barrette, a manager at nearby PF Chang’s, tell KPIX. “The police are coming. It’s like a scene from a movie. It’s crazy.”
Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance video to identify more suspects.
