$7.7 billion Renault-Geely joint venture seeks to challenge Toyota on hybrid vehicles

Renault and Geely have signed a joint venture agreement to create a new $7.7 billion company with a mission to develop hybrid powertrains and more efficient internal combustion engines.

According to a press release from Renault, the two automakers will each receive a 50% stake in the joint venture.
