In his first interaction since the keynote session in Google I/O 2023, Pichai responds to criticism of artificial intelligence which has been heard these days. Speaking on audio files Nilay Patel’s Decoder for The Verge.
First, in response to a question about how AI could mark a platform change, the Google CEO said: “I consider it a phenomenal platform change. Pretty much it will touch everything: every sector, every industry, every aspect of our lives. So one way of thinking about it is no different from the way we think about changing personal computers, Internet shift, or mobile shift. So in that sense, I think it’s a big change. In a way, I have called it the most profound technology that humanity is studying.”
Next, he was asked about the risks of AI and how it can be mitigated job significantly. Disagreeing, he said, “Twenty years ago, when people predicted exactly what automation technology would do, there were very specific statements about the entire category of work going away. That still hasn’t worked…I don’t mean to take it lightly… I do think there will be major disruptions in the social labor market. Governments need to be involved. There needs to be an adaptation. Skills will be very important. But I don’t think we should underestimate the benefits of some of this either. And it’s complicated, that’s probably how I would talk about it.”
Influencers create ‘virtual girlfriends’ using AI
Caryn Marjorie is a famous influencer on Snapchat with over 1.8 million followers. She has now created an AI version of herself that can act as a virtual girlfriend for anyone willing to pay. That’s right, the AI virtual girlfriend experience comes at a hefty $1 per minute. She is calling this AI voice chat robot CarynAI and it has been created by the company Forever Voices.
The chatbot, taking on the personality of Marjorie, will act like a girlfriend and engage in intimate conversations and even engage in conversations of a sexual nature. In an interview with Forbes, Marjorie said that chatbots can make up to 5 million USD per month.

Today, AI is doing all sorts of amazing things, but people still find its best use in hilarious inventions. In a recent example, AI art enthusiast Jyo John Mulloor shared a collection of AI-generated images with the help of Midjourney. What special do they have? He creates photographs of influential figures in a unique pop culture style.
In particular, two of his pictures went viral. The first is the image of former Indian Cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in Captain Jack Sparrow’s avatar. Crazy stock market
Bloomberg wrote today that AI-hungry investors have boosted Nvidia Corp.’s stock, which is up 96% this year. Microsoft and Alphabet also benefit. Societe Generale SA strategist Manish Kabra wrote in a note: “The explosion and hype of AI is going strong. “So strong that without the popular AI stocks, the S&P 500 would be down 2% this year.”
