360 on social media – Scott Kelby’s Photoshop Insider
It’s #TravelTuesday and me, Dave Williams, here! I’m putting together Scott’s blog like I do every Tuesday, and today I wanted to put all the social media in here.
With Facebook and Instagram essentially merging a while ago, and with the arrival of Meta, the world of social media visuals will change at a faster rate than ever. I’m not saying it’s a good thing or a bad thing, I’m simply saying it’s a ‘thing’.
These platforms are driven by algorithms and I won’t go on about that because I have done so many times before. However, what I will say is that if the algorithms don’t take into account 360 photos and videos, VR, immersive style, you can bet they will be out soon!
This is a Norwegian forest that I filmed yesterday. For those who want to know, I shot it in 360 on the DJI Mavic Air 2 and edited it to Small Planet in the Theta+ app.
As a small planet, it’s not within the bounds of a 360-degree photo, but with Facebook’s integration of a 360-degree viewer in the app and the proliferation of more affordable and efficient 360 cameras. , it’s definitely something to see!
I’ll be writing more about 360 photography for the February issue of Photoshop Users, but now I think it’s time to start taking 360 seriously and check out this space for potential uses. its.
As for the record, the print is still king!
Lots of love
Dave
