How do you find expensive summer buys on the high street? After working in fashion for a while, I have an instinct to identify affordable pieces that might be a good fit as a designer. But there are definitely some boxes that need to be checked to make sure they look as expensive as possible. The first thing I looked at was the material. A non-artificial fiber is ideal. Cotton, lyocell, and linen are the materials I look for for a sleeker look, especially during the warmer months. The next tip is the silhouette of the piece. Is it in line with current trends that have popped up right away? runway 2023? If so, I tend to think it looks more designer. That said, classic pieces like blazers and shirt skirts in muted tones also tend to look richer.
